- 520 __ |a This report introduces the combination of the arc-length method with line search and various Newton-type procedures. This mehtod is ideally suited for tracing the nonlinear response from the pre-limit to the post-limit range and can also improve the solution quality. In this report, we initially review the earlier work and then the combination of the methods is stuidied. It has been incorporated into an existing computer program. Four examples involving the geometric nonlinear static analysis of shells have shown that the combination of the methods can be recommended.
