- 520 __ |a The amounts of NO2-, NO3-, and SO4- and the pH value of condesate generated from burning seven different near future pipeline gases are presented. The gases were burned with a low (0.25 grains/100 ft3) and higher (1.0 grains/100 ft3) level of sulfur in the gases. The major constituent of the condensate was found to be the nitrite ion (nitrous acid) and the pH value when collected over glass, or on a nonicorrosive surface, varies from 3.4 to 3.8. If the condesate forms on a metal surfface it may also contain metal ions, and the pH will be somewhat higher. The report presents the effect on the condensate of aging and contact with metals.
